The Flesh is what we would call our physical body’s. Other names that are used are: The physical body, flesh, vessel and host. Flesh is the most common used term to identify the physical body.

What does it mean to live in the flesh? When one lives in the flesh they are focused only on worldly desires. Look at it this way: The flesh is personal desires, where the spirit is spiritual desires.

By living in the flesh is to focus on desires such as Money, Materialistic Possessions, Personal Desires. The flesh sees no difference in others. Whereas the spirit does. The flesh focuses on the physical needs, where the spirit focuses on the spiritual needs of that individual.

If we read John 4:24: We must worship God in Spirit & Truth. Another good verse is from Matthew 26:41: The Spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.  describes a situation where someone's intentions or desires are strong, but their ability to follow through is limited due to physical or other limitations.

It emphasizes the gap between aspiration and execution, particularly when physical or other constraints hinder one's ability to act on their will.

What does the Flesh focus on? The flesh focuses on what the flesh wants. Meaning: Lust, Greed, Addiction, Physical Possessions. Examples of what the flesh desires are:
• Money.
• Materialistic Possessions.
• Drugs & Lust.
• Chasing Personal Desires.
• Brand new sports car or mansion.
• New phone or console.
These are things of the Flesh. The spirit does not require any of this.

The spirit requires the worship of Christ and to be close to Christ & God. The Flesh can make us weak, but it’s important to remember that the Flesh does not define us, or who we are meant to be.

Think of the flesh as a layer of us, a shell that protects what’s inside of us. To focus on the spirit is to live as spirit. The flesh is who you are before you are changed by Christ & The Holy Spirit.

As those only of the flesh will not be able to see what those of the Flesh & Spirit see.
